In the heart of the south, and nestled along the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, the Louisiana State University - School of Veterinary Medicine has provided a haven for ill and injured animals for decades. The proximity to America's largest river has not been without influence, and a powerful force has evolved on both sides of the levee.

Developed by and for Louisiana's illustrious $2.45 billion equine industry, our Equine Health Studies Program and Hospital has fast become a premiere equine biomedical center dedictated to the health, well-being and performance of horses.

We relentlessly strive to support our mission by providing state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for critically ill and injured horses in Louisiana and the surrounding region. Known for its incredible variety and diversity, Louisiana boasts a rich equine industry with many backgrounds and performance disciplines. It is a unique challenge embraced by the LSU team. Differet backgrounds bring different expectations and each is welcomed by a certified team of equine ecaregivers.
