Endowed Chairs, Professorships, and Fellowships

Endowed gifts in support of studies enable the School of Veterinary Medicine to provide the finest educational opportunities for all students through enhancement of existing programs and implementation of new programs. Naming opportunities make your endowed gift a permanent legacy of your benevolence.

Fellowships

With a gift of $40,000 or more, you can endow a fellowship to enhance the advanced studies of students in our graduate programs and post-professional clinical studies.

Professorships and Chairs

The state of Louisiana has a matching program for endowed professorships, distinguished professorships and endowed chairs. The school currently does not have any endowed chairs or distinguished professorships, and has only two endowed professorships, neither of which is in the area of equine clinical or biomedical science. An endowed chair in equine biomedical sciences would be distinguished by being the first and only endowed chair in the School of Veterinary Medicine. These endowed positions are vital to move the instructional and investigational aspects of the ESHP forward into the 21st century. The individuals in these positions will serve as leaders of teams of equine clinicians and investigators that would conduct leading-edge scientific investigations to improve prevention and treatment of equine diseases.

An endowed professorship support fund in the discipline of your choice can be endowed with a gift of $60,000, which is matched by the Louisiana State Board of Regents to provide a total gift of $100,000. The School of Veterinary Medicine is especially in need of Distinguished Professorships, which are established with an endowment of $120,000 and a match of $80,000 from the State. The EHSP is in need of endowed professorships in equine biomedical sciences and in equine clinical sciences.

An endowed chair is the ultimate living legacy. Your gift of $600,000 is matched by the Louisiana State Board of Regents with $400,000 to create an endowment of $1,000,000. Endowed chairs are a critical component of our strategic plan to enhance the areas of excellence within our program. The Equine Health Studies Program is in need to two endowed chairs: one in equine biomedical sciences and one in equine clinical sciences.
